SCC Celebrates Our Wonderful Oncology Nurses!

From administering treatments and educating patients to guiding them through appointments and providing encouragement, oncology nurses fill so many of the tasks in Southern Cancer Center’s every day operations. With May being Nurse Appreciation Month and May 6th-12th being National Nurses Week, we want to take a moment to recognize our wonderful oncology nurses and the special impact they have on our patients and practice. These “superheroes in scrubs” are here every day helping patients navigate difficult journeys and deserve the utmost admiration for the work they do.

Frequently serving as liaisons between physicians and patients, administering oncology care can be a challenging but rewarding field. There are many strong bonds made and a range of emotions involved when experiencing patients’ victories and setbacks. Our nurses know their patients and families on a personal level and continually deliver compassionate care and words of encouragement. We celebrate their ability to put their personal lives on hold when they come to work to make a positive difference in the lives of the people they care for. These amazing nurses are able to connect with patients even on days when their treatments are tough and their spirits are down. We couldn’t be prouder of our nursing team and the quality care they give!
