Christmas peace

Bringing you words of inspiration and encouragement in Southern Cancer Center’s weekly series “Bread Bite”, here is a message from Pastor Brock Bruce of Christian Life Church in Mobile, AL.

Pastor Brock-
This year has been uncertain, chaotic, for many even depressing. There is no doubt that we haven’t always felt at peace. Yesterday we lit the peace candle for Advent. Let me take a moment to speak peace to you.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace. That first Christmas night the angels sang the chorus in Luke 2:14, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” Favor. How do experience this favor? It’s simple, really. It’s bound up in Jesus.

Paul tells us in Romans 5:1, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. It’s Jesus. The favor of God is given to us through Christ Jesus. God is not mad at us. God loves us. We have been justified, and that places us in a position of favor, the place where peace is found.

Jesus said “My peace I leave with you, not as the world gives do I give. Let not your hearts be troubled neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27) We see here that peace is a possession. It’s a gift from Jesus. When we look through the gospels, the good news of Jesus, we see him repeatedly speaking peace.

This Christmas I pray that you would experience the gift of peace that comes from the favor of God found in Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas!
